I established Ember Comms in 2023 with the aim of combining years of real-world PR practice with behavioural science and academic insight to get the best results for our clients.
I’ve had a squiggly career...
For ten years, I built a diverse skill set and multi-sector knowledge through a variety of in-house roles and as an account director with fast-paced agencies. As a result of my squiggly career, my employers
and clients came in all shapes and sizes and my experiences cover the hugely broad spectrum of what can be classified as communications, PR, and engagement. I even painted a hydrogen canal barge once for a public affairs campaign!
Some of my most prominent clients over the years have included the University of Birmingham, RSPB, Laing O’Rourke and Murphy Group Joint Venture, Balfour Beatty Vinci, Siemens, National Highways, National Grid Properties, City of Wolverhampton Council, Sheffield Hallam University, Innovate UK, and Transport for West Midlands.

As well as doing the doing, I’ve cemented my practice by obtaining the Chartered Institute of Public Relations Professional Public Relations Postgraduate Diploma. I am currently completing an MSc in Psychology, which provides me with a deep understanding of group social and cognitive dynamics to predict stakeholder, customer, and community views and behaviours in response to projects, services, and products to develop and implement robust communications strategies.

Over the years, I have been invited by national and regional organisations, including the Major Projects Association, CIPR Midlands, and Women in Property, to speak on communications, PR, and engagement best practice. I have also been featured in several podcasts and business publications, including The Business Influencer.
Between 2023 and 2024, I was a Visiting Lecturer at Birmingham City University’s School of Media, delivering modules as part of their BA (Hons) Public Relations and Media and Public Relations MA courses, including Media and Influencer Engagement, Communications Planning, and Events Management. Today, I am a part-time Lecturer in Business within University College Birmingham's Business School, specialising in PR, events management, and marketing for undergraduate and postgraduate studies.
